Spring weather is here in the South, regardless what the Groundhog predicted, and it is time stop dreaming for snow days and start basking in the joy of outdoor recess! So, to celebrate the return of our beloved outdoor recess, you know the kind where you are not bundled up and half the class is complaining because it is “too cold”, it is time to change out those “winter” bulletin boards. Yay……
I don’t know what it is about bulletin boards, but I actually despise changing them. I love seeing so many creative boards on Facebook and Pinterest, but when it comes to getting down to it I always find something else I “need” to do instead. For example, during my first year in the classroom a very “sweet” fellow teacher approached me in the hallway and basically told me to take down my Christmas trees or she would… In my defense it was my first year and I was completely overwhelmed, but she had a point in was the end of February.
Therefore to pump myself up for the dreaded task of bulletin board changing I have scoured Pinterest for the most impressive, practical, and inspiring boards on the Web. I have separated them into 3 categories for your convenience.
Category 1 – I can do that!
This one looks easy enough and it could even be tied into an insect unit!
Not so sure I like the duck, but a great idea for an interactive bulletin board!
Super clever! And the books could be changed based on what you have read with your students so far.
Category 2 – Not enough time this year, but maybe next!
The bunny bottoms are super cute and the simplicity would be great for even the youngest class.
I am a sucker for bulletin boards that are also learning tools, they can be left up longer! On this board, students could label the different parts during the lesson.
I think I could do this and maybe let the students find words to put on the board.
Category 3 – WOW! SERIOUSLY! NOPE!
Let’s see… buttons, cotton balls, chalk, 3D effects, yarn wrapped letters, and more. This board is so amazing, but it would definitely have to stay up all year!
Another amazing board. I wonder how long this one took!
I love this but… I can’t draw. So, unless someone does it for me or I can print and cut out the characters it is not going to happen.
I hope you have found some inspiration. Send me a pic of your spring bulletin board and I will add it to the list!
